Meyer Group expands into cruise ship maintenance with Meyer Re

The MEYER GROUP founded MEYER RE to complement its core business, the construction of new cruise ships:

As a new partner of cruise lines, the new company MEYER RE aims to maintain ships throughout their entire service life, to modernize them with sustainable solutions and to ensure optimized ship operations, according to a company statement.

This will enable the company to offer one-stop support throughout the life of the ship, from development to extended operations, it said.

According to Alexander W. Höfling, who has taken over the management of MEYER RE, the MEYER RE Group will use the technical expertise of the MEYER Group.

In future, the customers of the MEYER Group will also be able to benefit from MEYER’s comprehensive know-how and services during the ship’s service life. This continuous value retention makes a significant contribution to sustainability by extending the lifespan of the ships.

“MEYER RE will make our new ships more sustainable as a product because we are designing them in such a way that they can be modernized more easily. I am therefore convinced that MEYER RE will be an important building block for our future,” said Jan Meyer, Managing Director of MEYER WERFT.

Entire revitalization projects with companies from the partner network are also planned, the company said.

In addition, MEYER RE and MEYER NEPTUN Engineering offer new, innovative engineering services for shipping companies, for example in energy management when converting existing fleets to regenerative fuels or retrofitting fuel cells,
